Autumn/Winter 1995

Designer:
Hussein Chalayan
Brand:
Hussein Chalayan
Label:
(curved mark) P' Ben 95
Material:
Four wooden pieces; front, back and two sides, joined by metal bolts.

This wooden bodice joined by bolts protects and supports a body like a surgical corset. It was one of the works included in Hussein Chalayan's collections titled "Along False Equator." This collection was created with a theme of journey by disaster victims, along with the concept of reconstructing the body to keep it upright.
Chalayan is from Cyprus, and launched his debut collection in London in 1995. He presents conceptual works that cut across broad-ranging fields including fine arts, architecture and philosophy.
