1910年代から30年代は、世界各地で様々なモダンの形が現われた時代でした。機能主義に基づく「モダニズム」は、いまなお当時の中心的な動向とみなされていますが、一方で、大衆消費社会が進展したこの時代は、常に新しくあるために装飾することに価値が置かれた、儚き「モダニティ」の時代でもありました。
本展は当時の装飾芸術、ファッションなどを展覧し、作家たちがときに交わり、ポリフォニーのごとく共鳴しながら探求したいくつものモダンの形を紹介。KCIからはヴィオネの1922年頃のドレス、ランヴァンの1926-27年のドレス、シャネルの1927年頃のアンサンブル、パニゾンの帽子、デュナンのシガレット・ケースなどを出展します。ぜひご高覧ください。
