マドレーヌ・ヴィオネによるシンプルな昼用のドレス。ウエスト部は、後ろ身頃から前身頃に向けて直角に裁ち出されて縫製されることによって、バイアス効果をもたらしている。衿は後ろ身頃とバイアスで縫製されている。いずれも縫い目にあわせて、幾何学的なジグザク模様でドロンワークが施されており、従来の縫い目よりも柔軟性と伸縮性を高めた機能美が見られる。
マドレーヌ・ヴィオネ［1876-1975］は、キャロ姉妹店などで経験を積み、1912年パリに自身のメゾンを開く。第一次大戦後、一時閉めていた店をすぐに再開し、20年代には最も繁栄したメゾンの一つに数えられるまでになった。女性の体を独自の目で捉え、美しく際立たせる斬新なフォルムを独創的な裁断技術で表現した。

【Exhibition Feature #1 – Art Deco and Fashion】
A simple day dress by Madeleine Vionnet. The waist section is cut at a right angle from the back to the front bodice, creating a bias effect. The collar is also attached to the back bodice on the bias. Along the seams, geometric zigzag patterns of drawn-thread work are applied, enhancing flexibility and elasticity beyond that of conventional seams—an embodiment of functional beauty.

Madeleine Vionnet (1876–1975) gained experience at houses such as the Callot Soeurs before opening her own maison in Paris in 1912. After temporarily closing it during the First World War, she soon reopened and, by the 1920s, her house had become one of the most prosperous in Paris. Vionnet viewed the female body with a uniquely discerning eye and expressed its beauty through innovative cutting techniques that produced strikingly original silhouettes.
