ドゥイエによる1925年頃のイヴニング・ドレス。
1920年代の夜の装いに好まれた漆黒の光沢のある絹地に花柄がビーズで表されている。
その表現は抽象的かつ東洋趣味の雰囲気も感じさせ、アール・デコ期のデザインの要素が散りばめられたドレスといえる。

ジョルジュ・ドゥイエ（1865-1934）はキャロ姉妹の店で働いた後、1900年、パリのヴァンドーム広場18番地に自らのメゾンを開店。
上流階級の女性たちを顧客にもち、20世紀初頭の最も影響力のあるメゾンの一つとして隆盛した。

【Exhibition Feature #2 – Art Deco and Fashion】

An evening dress by Douillet, circa 1925.
The floral patterns are rendered in beads on lustrous black silk, a fabric favored for evening wear in the 1920s.
The design has an abstract quality with a hint of Oriental influence, making it a dress that embodies elements characteristic of the Art Deco period.

Georges Douillet (1865–1934) opened his own maison at 18 Place Vendôme in Paris in 1900, after working at the salon of the Callot Soeurs. Catering to women of the upper class, his maison became one of the most influential fashion houses in the early 20th century.
