Dior Oblique, the textile design with a repeating Dior logotype, was created by designer Marc Bohan in 1967, and became a brand icon in the 1970s. The Dior Oblique pattern is given broad use in this outfit created by John Galliano, who joined Christian Dior in 1996. Here the logotype, which had become a manifestation of the brand’s history and quality, reverts to being a superficial design motif. Today, the Dior Oblique pattern has been brought back by artistic directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Kim Jones, and is used as a graphical icon for items such as bags and shoes.
