Here we see typical jackets of the 1980s, which powerfully emphasized feminine charms. Their silhouettes, exaggerating the height and width of shoulders, were realized using thick shoulder pads.
Thierry Mugler debuted in 1973, and became one of the major forces leading the "power dressing" and "body-conscious" fashions of the 1980s, by using vivid colors and three-dimensional cutting in dress making. His clothes were described as theatrical, and they produced a sexy and powerful image, giving confidence to the women who wore them.
